Calcium Hydroxide

Calcium hydroxide is a white powdery solid, also known as hydrated lime. It has the general properties of alkali and is considered a strong alkali. Although calcium hydroxide has a stronger alkalinity than sodium hydroxide (due to its metallic activity: calcium>sodium), its solubility in water is significantly lower than that of sodium hydroxide, resulting in less corrosive and alkaline effects of its aqueous solution compared to sodium hydroxide. Its characteristics are high activity, loose structure, high purity (up to analytical level), good whiteness, fine particle size, and low impurity content. Calcium hydroxide is corrosive to skin and fabrics.

Calcium hydroxide has a wide range of industrial applications. It is a commonly used building material and is also used as a disinfectant and chemical raw material. Food grade calcium hydroxide is mainly composed of lime, which is processed and refined to remove harmful substances such as heavy metals. It has the same characteristics as ordinary calcium hydroxide, including high activity, loose structure, high purity, good whiteness, fine particle size, and low impurity content. In addition, calcium hydroxide can be used as an acidity regulator and antioxidant additive in the food industry, such as in the production of konjac and calcium supplements.
